That's a bit strong, even after 30 years. Let's not forget we did win by 2 goals. Joe Jordan, now first-team coach at Portsmouth, insists Scotland deserved to see off the Welsh - spot-kick or not. He said: "People think I handled it - it wasn't handball. "No, no, no it wasn't. Look at the picture. I'm up in the air, in a good position. I'm challenging David Jones like a good centre-forward should and the referee gives a penalty. "I hear the crowd shout penalty and so I shout for a penalty. Even after the game I wasn't aware why the penalty had been given. "But we deserved it on the night - penalty or no penalty." That's seems fair enough I reckon, anything else and it might have been us saying "we wuz robbed". But where did it get us? With Ally's Army on the road to Argentina. We'll remember Archie Gemmill's fabulous goal (the best of the tournament) but better forget about the rest - we deserved to get robbed then. Could only have been written by a Welshman? Like elephants, the Welsh have very good memories, just needed to run as fast as one to keep up with Joe! Still, I'd better be careful, the Wales v Scotland rugby match (as part of the 6 nations tournament) is being held in Cardiff in February and we don't want to get flattened by a herd of charging Welshmen (better not mention Murrayfield 2007). Now, back to the 1970s and Wales, rugby this time - Gareth Edwards, JPR & JJ, Phil Bennett, the list goes on - a time to dream. I remember saying something similar when Scotland's Joe Jordan cheated the referee to get a penalty in the World Cup qualifying match against Wales in October 1977 (The Anfield Match). A match they won to get through to the World Cup finals. That toothles grin still haunts me on a bad day “We wuz robbed”…….mmh!
